The course aims to provide an overview of structural optimization methods and algorithms and of form-finding techniques. The applications of these approaches will be then shown and described with particular reference to the design of gridshell structures and diagrid tall buildings. During the course, exercises will be proposed using the algorithmic and parametric modelling software Grasshopper.
The course will be taught by Dr. Valentina Tomei, Assistant Professor at University of Cassino and Southern Lazio.
