M&MIMS24 International Workshop “Mathematics and Mechanics of Innovative Materials and Structures”
Dear Colleagues:
We are very happy to announce that registration is now open for the 2024 International Workshop on the Mathematics and Mechanics of Innovative Materials and Structures (M&MIMS24), to be held from July 11th through July 13th, 2024 in Salerno, Italy. .
This Workshop is focused on the interdisciplinary area of materials design and modeling at various length and time scales, with emphasis on innovative eco-sustainable materials, metamaterials, and complex structures
You are cordially invited to participate in this interesting event. Abstracts related, but not limited, to the following areas are welcome:
– Multiscale mechanics
– Mechanical and acoustic metamaterials
– Innovative and sustainable materials
– Architectured materials and composites
– Granular materials and systems
– Smart materials and structures
– Microstructure engineering and modeling
– Seismic metamaterials
– Waves in discrete and continuous systems
The Workshop will serve as a review meeting for the following projects, but the participation of external researchers is warmly appreciated and greatly welcomed:

Venue
The meeting room, the terraces and the banquet halls of the lovely Mediterranea Hotel (https://www.mediterraneahotel.it/), located in a scenic venue of the city of Salerno, will host the scientific and social activities of the Workshop. The registration may be complemented by adding the fees for booking a single or double bedroom at the Mediterranea Hotel during chosen dates of the Workshop time-window. Please complete your registration as soon as possible, upon filling the Registration Form provided below on this webpage, since the Hotel has released a limited number of rooms available to workshop participants and preference will be given to the attendees who first complete their registration. Alternative accommodations are available at nearby hotels(www.multiscale.unisa.it).

Special issue
A special issue of Meccanica (Springer, https://link.springer.com/journal/11012) will collect selected, peer-reviewed contributions presented at the Workshop, upon selection by the Workshop Chairs. The Special Issue aims at providing new insights in modelling and control of innovative structures and multiscale materials. Discovery and promotion of new knowledge about mechanical behaviours involving size effects and multiple characteristic scale lengths are encouraged. Unconventional responses of multiscale systems, nanostructures, metamaterials and smart devices for vibration control will be investigated from theoretical, computational and experimental perspectives. Topics in Nano-Science and Nano-Engineering, such as modelling and assessment of scale effects in nanostructures, are suggested as possible contributions. In-depth analysis of complex scale phenomena characterizing miniaturized electro-mechanical systems is encouraged. Further goals concern modelling of smart and innovative devices for structural control, isolation strategies and energy harvesting. New developments in vibration control techniques will be promoted. Applications of unconventional materials and innovative systems are expected as outcomes. The submission deadline for full papers is provided below. The submission of an article to this issue is not required to participate in the workshop.
