The 10^th edition of the Contact Mechanics International Symposium (CMIS2020), which will take place May 13 – 15, 2020 in Lavaux, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, close to Lausanne/Geneva in Switzerland.

The Symposium will offer intense discussions in a broad range of topics within theoretical, computational and experimental contact mechanics.

Abstract submission will open in October 2019.

Dear colleagues and friends,

due to the coronavirus crisis, and to the surprise of no-one, CMIS2020 is cancelled. We will proceed with reimbursement of registration fees of those who have already registered. Please be patient, the financial department of our University is doing their best to handle all conference cancellations and reimbursement.

We discussed potential replacement dates early next Fall, but decided it is not a good idea as the situation might still be uncertain in the Summer.

Unfortunately we cannot organize it as well in 2021 because there is a conflict with another contact mechanics conference (ICCCM). Therefore, in agreement with past organizers, we decided to move CMIS-2020 to CMIS-2022, around the same time (May). We will keep you posted. We thank you for your trust in participating in CMIS-2020. We are grateful that you have sent very good abstracts. The program was set to be at a very high level. And we hope that despite this offset of two years, you will still be able to participate in CMIS-2022.
