Registration is now open for the 2022 International Workshop on Multiscale Innovative Materials and Structures

We are very happy to announce that registration is now open for the 2022 International Workshop on Multiscale Innovative Materials and Structures (MIMS22), to be held from September 29th through October 1st, 2022 in Cetara (Amalfi Coast) – Salerno, Italy. The 2022 meeting will be the fourth in a series of workshops that has taken place every three years since 2013 (www.multiscale.unisa.it) on the Amalfi Coast.
You are cordially invited to participate in this interesting event. Abstracts related, but not limited, to the following areas are welcome:
– Multiscale mechanics
– Mechanical and acoustic metamaterials
– Innovative and sustainable materials
– Architectured materials and composites
– Granular materials and systems
– Smart materials and structures
– Microstructure engineering and modeling
– Seismic metamaterials
– Waves in discrete and continuous systems

Venue
The meeting room, the terraces and the banquet halls of the picturesque Cetus Hotel (www.hotelcetus.com), located in a scenic venue of the amazing Amalfi Coast, will host the scientific and social activities of the Workshop. Standing on a sheer cliff that overlooks an enchanting bay, the Cetus Hotel is located only 300 meters from Cetara, a historic fisherman village, and offers a striking view on the Amalfi Coast. The elegant décor and refined atmosphere is inspired by the tradition of Vietri ceramics. The hotel is equipped with 37 rooms, all with sea view, air-conditioning and internet wi-fi, and may host up to 91 participants. It also offers a private beach, set in an enchanting almost shell-shaped bay, wellness and fitness centers. Alternative accommodations are available at nearby hotels (www.multiscale.unisa.it). A trip along the Amalfi Coast will be organized on Saturday October 1st or Sunday October 2nd, 2022 (depending on the density of scientific program).
Registration
Please complete your registration as soon as possible, upon following the directions provided at the Registration webpage of the Workshop. You are required to fill the attached Registration Form and to return it to the email address info.comeit@gmail.com.
The registration may be complemented by adding the fees for booking a single or double bedroom at The Cetus Hotel during chosen dates of the Workshop time-window. Please complete your registration as soon as possible, upon following the directions provided on the Registration webpage, since the Cetus Hotel has released a limited number of rooms available to workshop participants (29 rooms, all sea view) and preference will be given to the attendees who first complete their registration.
The Cetus Hotel offers a striking view on the beautiful Amalfi Coast, being set on a promontory that overlooks an enchanting bay equipped with a private beach (check the following flash video for an overview of the landscape enjoyable from the rooms of the hotel).
Preliminary Program
The preliminary Program of the Workshop will be soon available on the Workshop website www.multiscale.unisa.it. The afternoon session of Thursday, September 29th and the morning and after sessions of Friday, September 30th, 2022 will allocate two parallel sessions of two hours each, for a total of 12 parallel sessions. Each session includes a keynote lecture of 40 min and four regular lectures of 20 min. Two plenary keynote lectures of 40 min are scheduled on the morning session of September 29th.
Overall, the Workshop will include two plenary keynotes, 12 thematic keynotes and 48 regular lectures. The morning session of February 28th will be dedicated to lectures delivered by the PhD candidates of the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Salerno.
Minisymposia proposals including four regular lectures (20 min) and one thematic keynote (40 min) are encouraged and welcomed (please contact us at multiscale.salerno@gmail.com).
Special issue
A special issue of Mechanics Research Communications (MRC) will collect original, peer-reviewed contributions presented at the Workshop. The issue is aimed at collecting articles at the forefront of applied mechanics, material science and engineering, and physics to further our understanding of mechanics of materials at different scales, and its application to the design, modeling, manufacturing and experimentation of innovative multiscale materials and structures. The submission deadline for full papers is provided below. The submission of an article to this issue is not required to participate in the workshop.
